It’s no secret that I’m a massive fan of superfood smoothies. I make one every morning before work and often when I get home late, I’ll whip one up for dinner to avoid overeating right before bed. Despite recently buying an incredible blender (Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Kinetix™ Control Blender – I can’t recommend it highly enough), sometimes I find it much more fun when someone else just does it for me (as with most things in life, really).
Luckily London has seen a massive juice and smoothie explosion in the last couple of years. People becoming much more health-conscious and the fitness industry really kicking off has resulted in scores of new juice and smoothie bars opening up around the city. For all my fellow juice lovers, here’s a selection of the best smoothie and juice bars in London.
I’ll start with a selection in Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden, the epicentre of organic, healthy eating in London. I’m also a little biased to this area as I work here too, which isn’t ideal for my bank account really, but at least I always have lots of healthy options around me!
Blend & Press
16A Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9DP
Tube: Covent Garden / Leicester Square / Tottenham Court Road
These guys have a nice selection of cold-pressed juices and superfood smoothies, and they specialise in detox juice cleanses. They also have a small selection of incredibly delicious (and healthy) treats like fridge cake and raw cheesecake which I indulge in a little more often than I should! You can’t sit inside the bar but there’s lots of nice seating outside in Neal’s Yard.
Wild Food Cafe
1st Floor, 14 Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9DP
Tube: Covent Garden / Leicester Square / Tottenham Court Road
This is one of London’s first raw vegan restaurants and it has now become a bit of an institution. They have a full menu and a really cute setting, so if you’re ever in the area then I definitely recommend that you pop in and try the raw pizza or a slice of the chocolate tart.
Lab Organic
58 Neal St, London WC2H 9PA
Tube: Covent Garden / Leicester Square / Tottenham Court Road
Specialises in organic, cold-pressed juices and superfood smoothies. When I feel like a little splurge then I also buy my lunch from here – they have a good range of delicious healthy food packs (salads and raw food) as well as lots of snacks, for my afternoon cravings.
OK, now for some other juice bar locations in London…
Juicebaby
Chealsea: 398 Kings Road, London, SW10 0LJ
Tube: Fulham Broadway / South Kensington
In addition to all their juices, Juicebaby also have a pretty awesome range of healthy food – think raw pad thai and kale salads, as well as mouth-watering treats that look incredibly indulgent but are somehow still good for you! The perfect combination really.
Raw Press
32 Dover Street, London W1S 4NE
Tube: Green Park / Piccadilly Circus
Specialising in cold-pressed juices, Raw Press also have one of my favourite breakfasts – açai bowls, as well as a revolving selection of vegan and gluten-free salads, soups and snacks.
Roots & Bulbs
5 Thayer Street, Marylebone, London W1U 3JG
Tube: Bond Street / Oxford Circus
Superfood smoothies, cold-pressed juices, high-protein and wholesome foods and coffee!
Do you love smoothies and juice bars as much as I do? Where are your favourite ones in London?
